Site prep

Andy and I are headed out of town this weekend, and we need to get our permits ASAP to begin dirt work on May 1, so we had to do a little site prep over the weekend to make the inspectors happy. Here's the before and after photos, including our new trailer and Peter's trailer, which we're borrowing.

Andy says some of the stuff the county requires us to do is questionable as far as how effective it is, but since Andy works for the county, it doesn't hurt to be extra careful.

Number Puzzle

Now that we have not one but two trailers in our yard -- and with May 1 right around the corner -- it's time to start organizing for the addition.

Today, Andy and I started by clearing stuff out from under our house. We got rid of a lot of crap. After that we moved everything out of our attic (which will no longer be our attic once we have a second floor) and put most of it under the house. We moved some of that stuff into our shed, and moved some of the stuff from out the shed to the enclosed trailer.

It reminds me of that game where you try to put the numbers in order with only one open slot to do it. Kind of like this:
Anyway, this is a boring post because, well, it's pretty boring stuff. These are the challenges we've lived with in such a small house. It's funny because you learn that you can live without a lot of stuff.

Sometimes I can't believe we've lived in this house for five years. While it feels a little cramped sometimes, it really has been just fine with Andy and me. It will be nice to have some space for guests in the future ... no more sleeping on the futon in the living room.
